Black Hills State host Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede

SPEARFISH, S.D. —  Black Hills State University opened the spring rodeo season on April 5-6 with a strong performance at the Jackrabbit Stampede.

The Black Hills State rodeo team returned to action this weekend at the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede at Seven Down Arena near Spearfish.

The Lady Yellow Jackets are currently ranked number one nationally and number one in the Great Plains Region.

In fact, Black Hills State holds down the top four spots in the women’s all-around standings. Alyssa Lockhart leads the way followed by Carlee Johnston, KeAnna Jo Ward and Emilee Pauley.

Lockhart entered this weekend’s competition ranked number one in the barrel racing and breakaway roping and third in the goat tying.
