CANYON, TX – The Black Hills State men’s basketball team is elite again.

The Yellow Jackets upset West Texas A&M on Tuesday, 68-67 to win the South Central Regional Championship.

Joel Scott hit one of two free throws with 3.9 seconds left to give the Yellow Jackets a one point lead.

West Texas A&M had one more chance to win the game.

Damion Thornton took the ball the length of the court and hit a jumper at the buzzer.

However, the officials reviewed it and the ball was still in Thornton’s hands as the clock hit zero.

So the shot was waved off securing the win for Black Hills State.
