Black Hills Skating Academy performs ‘Safari on Ice’

RAPID CITY S.D. Young skaters laced up and hit the ice on Friday for their annual winter show.

Around 70 members of the Black Hills Skating Academy staged the show at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena. This year’s theme was Safari on Ice.

Many of the skaters are part of the “Learn to Skate” classes.

One skater, Joelle Simpson, said the production is a great way for them to show off all of their hard work and dedication.

“Along with just knowing how to skate and knowing your routines, it can take really long time,” said Simpson. “Not only the decorations, getting everyone here, learning, the finales and the group pieces, it takes a few weeks.”
