Black Hills National Forest acting supervisor announced

CUSTER, S.D. — There will be a new man in charge in the new year at Black Hills National Forest.

Andrew Johnson has been named acting supervisor.

He will step in when Mark Van Every retires at the end of December.

Johnson is currently the supervisor on the Bighorn National Forest — and is based in Sheridan, Wyoming.

He has a background in recreation and wilderness management — as well as range, minerals, timber and fuels management.

Johnson will serve up to 120 days while the agency works to fill the position permanently.
