Cooler weather, on & off showers through this weekend

On and off showers are likely through this weekend, bringing much needed moisture to portions of our region.

  • Temperatures will reach the 50s and 60s this afternoon, with higher elevations struggling to reach 50° in some cases.
  • Thundershowers will pop up along and North of I-90 this afternoon, but aren’t expected to cause too much of a fuss.

  • Winds could gust from the Northwest around 30-35 MPH this afternoon along with those showers.
  • Breezy conditions will continue on and off all the way through this weekend.

  • Wednesday will dry out, with southerly winds around 10-20 MPH towards the afternoon. Overall, a calm and mild day across the region.

  • As we approach Wednesday evening into Thursday, more widespread showers are expected along with breezy conditions.
  • Could have a few thundershowers, but more-so the cooler air signifies possible snow showers in the higher elevations of the Black Hills.

  • Cool air will sneak into our region from the East starting Friday going into early next week.
  • Unsettled weather is expected to follow as the jet stream flows right over our region, leading to small system following the train tracks through the Black Hills.

  • Yes, I could see a few snowflakes or even snow showers in Rapid City and lower elevations sometime this weekend going into early next week.
  • Not expecting anything major, and the main story here will be the much needed moisture hanging around into next week.
