Shortly after graduating college, Mackenzie Dahlberg joined the NewsCenter1 team in May 2022.
Having lived in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota throughout her life, she graduated from high school in Nebraska.
In 2014, Mackenzie went straight from high school to college, attending Chadron State College. There she pursued a double major in Communication Arts: Journalism and History.
While in college, she worked with the college’s weekly student newspaper, The Eagle. She started as a reporter before moving to opinions editor then sports editor where she was for three semesters.
She’s earned newspaper awards at the annual Northern Plains Collegiate Media Association Golden Leaf Awards and even received a first place for a sports column for the National Newspaper Association Foundation’s Better Newspaper Contest.
She also interned at North Platte Telegraph, a daily newspaper in North Platte, Nebraska.
Along with her love of sports photography, she enjoys watching most sports – the top ones being football, baseball and hockey. Her favorite teams lean toward Minnesota, but she mainly keeps up with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.
She has a close connection with her family, both parents and her five siblings and usually checks up with them as often as possible.
Even though she has more experience in print journalism, she’s enjoying the new media of broadcasting and can’t wait for what her future brings.
