BHSU men and women’s basketball teams gear up for the RMAC Tournament

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament is set to tip off Tuesday, March 1.     

Black Hills State is the top seed in the tournament after capturing the RMAC regular season title with a league-best 17 and 4 record.

The Yellow Jackets begin tournament play by hosting New Mexico Highlands.

This is the fifth-straight season that the BHSU men have qualified for the tournament, and the fourth-straight year of hosting a quarterfinal game.

BHSU is led by Joel Scott who’s averaging 22.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

Black Hills State and New Mexico Highlands split their two regular season games this year.

The Yellow Jackets won the first meeting back in December, winning at home 91-69.

But later in the season, the Cowboys defeated the Yellow Jackets, 83-74.

The game will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Young Center in Spearfish.

        

 

RMAC Women’s Basketball

The Black Hills State women’s basketball team earned the fifth seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament.

That means the Lady Yellow Jackets will travel to Colorado to take on No. 4 CSU Pueblo.

Black Hills State faced CSU Pueblo one time this season with the ThunderWolves claiming a 70-56 victory.

Danica Kocer leads the Lady Yellow Jackets with 12.9 points per game.

The game will tip-off on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Pueblo.
