BHSU awarded for beautifying Spearfish
SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University is being recognized for beautifying the community of Spearfish.
They received the Business Beautification Award from the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce Tuesday for recent additions to the campus.
The college has revamped walkways and green spaces on campus, along with more trees and new fences.
The award recognizes a local business or organization for their overall beautification efforts, enhancing our community visually, and making it inviting for current and potential residents.
School leadership says the award benefits both the school and the community.
“The fact that we are nestled in the gorgeous Black Hills – all that it means to be beautiful, to be supportive of the environment, to make a difference to this community – those are all very strong cultural attributes to this campus,” said BHSU President Tom Jackson.
In the last few years, the school has planted 1,000 trees on campus.
