Belle Fourche’s Evan Vissia to play baseball at the college level

BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Evan Vissia from Belle Fourche signed a letter of intent this week to play baseball next year at Dakota College at Bottineau, ND.

Vissia plays catcher for the Belle Fourche Post 32 baseball team.

He considered two other schools before deciding to sign with Dakota College.

Vissia plans to go to school for business with an emphasis in small business management or accounting.

“I really love the town,” said Evan Vissia. “It’s a little small town. It reminds me of home kind of and they’ve got some cool attractions like Tommy the Turtle. One of the biggest turtles on a snowmobile. So it’s pretty cool.”

“Evan has been our starting catcher since he was 15 years old as a freshman,” said Post 32 head coach Randy Doran. “He’s really progressed a long ways since then defensively and offensively. It’s a tall order being a 15-year old kid going up against varsity guys that are 18, 19 years old. Looking forward to Evan behind the plate. Not a whole lot of people are going to want to run on Evan. He’s a force behind the plate.”
