Bear Butte Lodge destroyed in early morning fire
STURGIS, S.D. — A Thursday morning fire in Sturgis has resulted in the loss of Bear Butte Lodge.
According to a Facebook post from Meade County Emergency Management, first responders from the Sturgis area were called out just before 4:30 Thursday morning. Meade County Sheriff’s deputies were the first to arrive on scene and found the structure fully engulfed. Photos show the lodge burned to the ground.
Sturgis Fire and EMS, the Fort Meade, Vale, and Whitewood Fire Departments, Meade County Emergency Management, and the State Fire Marshal all responded to the scene.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
