Basketball Roundup complete with scores, 20 photos and highlights from RC Central and STM
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Central hosted Spearfish on Thursday in girls basketball.
It’s been an interesting week for both of these teams.
Spearfish upset third ranked St. Thomas More on Tuesday evening.
Plus Rapid City Central head coach, Josh Mach, resigned on that same day due to health concerns.
So Jacqee Shaefer will lead the Cobblers as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
After trailing by eight at halftime, Central pulled to within one early in the third quarter.
But Spearfish went on to beat the Cobblers, 49-35.
Mya Kochuten from Spearfish led all scorer with 19 points.
On the other hand, Aaliyah Jones was the leading scorer for Central with 12 points followed by Leah Landry with 11.
The Spartans improve to 4-6 on the season, while the Cobblers fall to 4-7.
St. Thomas More def. Sturgis in girls basketball
The St. Thomas More girls basketball team bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to Spearfish, with a 56-10 win over Sturgis.
Reese Ross led the third ranked Cavaliers with 15 points.
St. Thomas More improves to 11-3 on the season.
The Cavaliers will host Rapid City Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. The Comets are currently 11-2 on the season.
On the other hand, the Scoopers fall to 1-10.
Sturgis will host Mitchell on Friday, Feb. 3.
