Bandit Speedway opening in Box Elder over weekend

BOX ELDER, S.D. — A new venue for race fans is opening in Box Elder this weekend.

Bandit Speedway is opening its gates on Saturday, July 25. The three-eighths of a mile track will feature three classes of racing featuring: Stock cars, Modifieds and Traditional Sprint Cars.

Owner Bill Keester hopes the new speedway will offer some exciting racing for the residents of Box Elder and Ellsworth Air Force Base.

“The Air Force has always, traditionally the personnel there have been involved in auto racing in western South Dakota as long as there’s been racing in western South Dakota,” Keester said. “So, I think there’s still a bunch of motorheads out there, and I think they’ll be out here watching the races on Saturday.”

Gates open to racing fans at 4 p.m. with the flag scheduled to drop for the first race at 6 p.m. Races are planned every Saturday at Bandit Speedway through October 3.
