Authorities searching for two prison inmates placed on escape status

PIERRE, S.D. — Authorities say they’re searching for two female inmates after they escaped from their community service job site in Pierre on Friday.

According to a release from the Department of Corrections, prison inmates Tahnasha Stricker and Christy First In Trouble took a vehicle from the job site. Officials say it was a silver Dodge Dakota pickup with license plate number CD205.

Officials are now asking anyone that sees either inmate or the vehicle to contact local law enforcement immediately.

Stricker, 31, is Native American, 5 foot 4 and weighs 170 pounds. She is serving a one year sentence from Hughes County for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance and more than six years from Minnehaha County for possession of a controlled substance.

First in Trouble, 33, is Native American, 5 foot 6 and weighs approximately 230 pounds. She’s serving a two year sentence for possession of a controlled substance and a two year sentence for failure to appear, both from Pennington County. She’s also serving a five year sentence with three years suspended out of Mellette County for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance.
