Authorities respond to RV fully engulfed in flames south of Hermosa

HERMOSA, S.D. — An RV traveling south of Hermosa on S.D. 79 went up in flames on Saturday.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Southern Hills Troopers responded to the vehicle fire after a report came in that the RV was fully engulfed in flames.

The only occupant of the vehicle was the driver. That person escaped the accident unharmed. Officials say the RV was a total loss.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.

Crews from the Battle Creek Volunteer Fire Department helped extinguish the flames.
