Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened on the 700 block of Kansas City Street.

The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. when a minivan that was headed northbound on Mt. Rushmore Road began having issues and took a left onto Kansas Street where it hit a number of parked cars.

The van also hit a jeep on the passenger side, causing it to roll.

Five cars were involved in the accident in total. The Rapid City Fire Department reported that minor injuries were sustained in the accident, but did not release any other information.

Authorities say they’re not sure if the issues the motorist in the minivan experienced were mechanical or medically-related.

The Rapid City Police Department has asked the public to avoid the area for the time being while crews work to investigate.
