At least two homes struck by lightning in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Authorities are currently responding to two homes that were reportedly struck by lightning in Rapid City.

Crews are just leaving one of the homes that was hit, located off Edinborough Drive near Catron Boulevard.

Rapid City Fire Chief Rod Seals says one person who was inside the home was checked over medically.

Officials are also currently on the scene of another home that was struck near Red Rocks Park. The Rapid City Fire Department’s Engine 6 is responding.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect over the area until 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Viewers reported hail in the golf ball sized range.
