As students head back to school, so does law enforcement

RAPID CITY, S.D. — As teachers and students head back to school, law enforcement does as well.

Rapid City Police Chief Don Hedrick was at Grandview Elementary on Tuesday morning, welcoming back families.

After the abrupt closing of school in the spring and the reopening amid the pandemic, Hedrick says there’s a lot anxiety with the return to school.

“Police are part of the community and we’re glad we could be here to support the school as they start their first day off” said Hedrick.

The police department also reminds anyone who drives to please be extra-careful in school zones and adhere to the speed limits.
