Arrowhead Country Club Fall Festival to include fireworks show
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Arrowhead Country Club will have their 2nd annual Fall Festival this weekend in west Rapid City. The festival began as a way for the club to thank members for their support and show their appreciation.
Also on the list is something long overdue: fireworks.
The country club will have a fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. on September 25. The show was going to be part of a Fourth of July celebration, but had to be delayed.
“Normally we do a fireworks show on the Fourth of July. This year with fire conditions and things like that, we postponed that and moved that to our Fall Festival. It is a slightly toned-down fireworks show. The City is allowing us to have the show, but we do have to do three-inch shells instead of six-inch shells. So, it’ll be a little bit smaller but still a pretty good show.”
Of course, both the country club and city officials are taking into account the other residents of the area. Last year, during a fireworks show at the club, the loud noises had worried nearby residents. Sharpe understands the concern and is working to make sure more information about the event is reaching them.
“We try to do our best to let everybody know because sometimes pets don’t react to fireworks real well, and we don’t want to surprise anybody,” he explained. “We did have a few folks that were surprised last year, so we’re doing our best to get the word out that we are going to have a fireworks show this year.”
The fireworks show will last around 30- to 45-minutes.
