Another great year for the Tom Pfeifle memorial 5K

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Community members in Rapid City today, gathered to remember and honor a young outdoorsman who passed away too soon.

All walks of life were present in honor of Thomas Craig Pfeifle, a young man who lost his life doing what he loved. He died while summiting the highest peak in Montana in the summer of 2016 with his friends. Tom’s family and friends miss him very much but his family remembers him through his favorite activities.

Tom loved running, hiking, climbing and especially being with friends. So in 2017 two of Tom’s closest friends organized a 5K to gather friends and family to remember and celebrate the life of their good friend. They managed to organize this event while away at college which brought out over 300 participants in its first year. When the boys were unable to continue to coordinate the 5K while being busy at college, volunteers Bill and Diane Tschetter offered to take on the challenge. With the event finishing up its 3rd year, hundreds continue to show up and honor Tom Pfeifle’s memory.
