Anna’s Kindness, volunteers help Black Hills Humane Society
Jerry Steinley, Executive Director of the Black Hills Humane Society, says that the organization is always in need of volunteers and items to help out the animals.
RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Humane Society of the Black Hills received a little help from a local non-profit on Saturday from Anna’s Kindness.
The organization is named after Anna LeFort, who passed away in 2017 from Influenza and Pneumonia.
According to Anna’s mother, Fran LeFort, Anna loved volunteering and helping the animals at the humane society when their family lived in Rapid City.
In honor of the five-year anniversary of Anna’s death, family members, friends and classmates gathered at the animal shelter to honor Anna and pay tribute
“We wanted to come to the humane society where she worked and volunteered with her friends who are seniors this year and to just get together with them one more time before they graduate and go on to the next chapter of their lives,” Fran LeFort said.
Officials from the humane society say that groups like Anna’s Kindness help them a lot.
Jerry Steinley, Executive Director of the Black Hills Humane Society, says that the organization is always in need of volunteers and items to help out the animals.
“We always need supplies of blankets, food, cash donations are always appreciated,” Steinley said. “It all goes to helping thousands of animals every year. The volunteers, like we’re seeing here today, help immensely. If you’re interested in volunteering, we need volunteers to walk dogs. We have volunteers that help clean up the grounds or have volunteers of help with laundry. Volunteers are all greatly appreciated.”
