Andre Starr found dead 37 days after disappearing

OGLALA, S.D. – The body of Andre Starr was found on Wednesday after 37 days of searching, according to his relative Paulina Fast Wolf.

A ceremony will be held with the family and volunteer searchers Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Oglala Ambulance base.

Fast Wolf posted to Facebook with the following message:

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you all that we have recovered our relative Andre Starr – Mato Nagi Gluha Mani. Our hearts are extremely broken at this time. Please say a prayer for our family and for Andre.

We would like to say thank you to all who had a hand in helping us in his recovery. To the volunteer searchers for your dedicated time. Thank you! All your efforts everyday and support has been so much appreciated by our family. Especially to our pass creek relatives! You all helped bring our brother, son, nephew, uncle, grandson Andre Devin home.

From the day we knew he was missing on his Birthday Thurs. Oct. 20th, 2022 his family & our kind relatives searched for him. Everyday we never gave up and today is the day….day 37 he was found. We pray for his nagi to have a beautiful journey to the Wicahpi Oyate. Thank you all! We will love and miss you forever. We made that promise to never stop looking and we didn’t.

We, the family are asking all volunteer searchers, relatives to come back tomorrow Thurs. Nov. 24th, 2022 at 1:00 pm to feed you, aziliya and pray together at the Oglala Ambulance base.
