American Legion National Organization suspends 2020 baseball season

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Legion Baseball Board and the state’s American Legion Executive Committee approved plans on Saturday night to proceed with a baseball season this summer.

However, the American Legion National Organization decided on Sunday to suspend nationwide.

The American Legion National Organization canceled the World Series and regional tournaments back on April 7.

But the national committee left it up to each state as to whether or not to play their own seasons.

South Dakota was one of 25 states that had either yet to make a decision or planned to go ahead with playing games this summer.

According to the American Legion National Organization, teams could still play a season independently this year.

That means Post 320, Post 22 and other local teams could still play this summer but their games would not be authorized or endorsed by the American Legion National Organization.
