Amazon Web Services outage complicating forecast communication
RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Amazon Web Services outage that is affecting vast media empires and thousands of people is also affecting products that help meteorologists communicate forecasts effectively.
Weather stations and forecast products are still pulling in critical information and the integrity of our weather data is still 100%, but the products that help communicate this data to a wide audience struggled Tuesday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, it looks as though the issue is being worked on and progress has been made, but forecast products such as the Newscenter1 Weather App and other products may display conflicting information at times due to these outages.
For the time being, stay tuned to Newscenter1 on air and online for the latest weather information and forecasts. Again, the outage is only affecting products that help communicate the forecast – not our ability to gather weather data, so your forecasts will still be up to date and pertinent.
