All Ability Skate Day celebrates inclusion at Main Street Square

RAPID CITY, S.D. — All Ability Skate Day took place at Main Street Square, after they received handicap-friendly equipment from Black Hills Works.

All Ability Skate DayWheelchairs on skis and other modified equipment allowed everyone to enjoy a day on the ice together.

“Kind of the tagline of the whole event is fun for everyone, and I think that really resonates the more you think about it,” says Dustin Vanhunnik, Marketing Manager, Main Street Square. “Everybody should have the opportunity to have fun and we sure hope everyone is today.”

The Rapid City Police Activities League set up next to the rink, providing fun and games for those who weren’t on the rink.

Skating will continue through the month of February, with the new ADA equipment available to those who need it.
