After a brutally cold week, temperatures will be well above average, but how long will the warmth stick around?
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Let’s check out what the weather will be like as we head into the last week of December and 2022!
Temperatures this week will be well above average for almost the entire week. Our warmest day will be Tuesday, with temperatures gradually falling for the rest of the week. Overnight lows will be slightly below freezing starting on Wednesday night. This might make for hazardous travel conditions in the mornings because of the snow melt refreezing overnight.
Will we get any precipitation?
There is a slight chance for some scattered rain showers on Wednesday, but the details are still up in the air right now. There is also a possibility for snow on Sunday, but there is still a decent amount of uncertainty. Details should become more clear in the upcoming days.
Will it be windy?
Sunday was very windy, but other than Tuesday, most of this week should be relatively calm.
What should I wear?
During the day, a light jacket should be enough to keep you warm. At night, you might want to upgrade to a medium to heavy weight jacket.
This weekends forecast is still showing a lot of uncertainty, but the temperatures should be fairly nice. Saturday looks like it should be dry. On Sunday, a small, fast-moving system could move through the area and potentially bring some snow. If we do get snow out of that system, it will be heavy and wet because temperatures will be very close to freezing.
