Access to vehicle renewal kiosk in PennCo Admin. Building temporarily limited
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Starting Wednesday March 3, 2021, access to the DMV Now License Renewal kiosk located within the Pennington County Administration Building will be temporarily limited to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
This limited access is expected to last approximately 3 weeks due to construction in the main entrance of the Administration Building.
As a reminder, a second DMV Now License Renewal Self-Service Kiosk is located within the Rushmore Mall and is available during regular mall business hours.
The DMV Now License Renewal Kiosk is a fully automated motor vehicle registration renewal station which dispenses license renewal tags on the spot. Vehicle owners from any county can use the terminal with the proper identification.
A vehicle owner can navigate through the easy touch screen (voice assistance available) with a valid South Dakota driver’s license, South Dakota identification card, or if a company, the information provided on its renewal notice. Once the payment has been submitted and the transaction is completed, the license renewal tags and vehicle registration card are dispensed directly from the machine.
Acceptable forms of payment include electronic check and credit/debit cards (Discover, MasterCard and Visa only). There is a processing fee of $1.50 for echeck or 2.25% for a debit or credit card. Cash is not accepted.
You can renew your registration as early as 90 days prior and 9 months after the vehicle’s renewal expiration date.
In addition to the self-service terminals, the regular options of renewing by mail through the county and online through www.SDcars.org are also available.
