Absentee voting underway in South Dakota
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Absentee voting in Pennington County for the upcoming primaries is reported to be steady since it started on Friday.
The Auditor’s Office says about 70 voters turned out on Friday and the steady turnout continued Monday. Early voting continues until June 6th, the day before the primaries. Voter registration goes until May 23rd.
If you are mailing in your ballot the auditor’s office recommends sending it with time to spare so your vote gets counted.
Pennington County Auditor Cindy Mohler says,
“Sometimes the mail is a little bit slower, sometimes it makes it across town in a day and sometimes it’s three or four. So if you want to ensure that it gets here, be sure to mail it early. If you’re coming up on the last couple of days probably best to bring it down and drop it off.”
The auditor’s office will also send cards to those whose polling location changed with redistricting.
