A Rapid City woman helps spread Christianity across the globe
What started as a social media connection led to a faith-based correspondence – with bible study classes being taught from Rapid City to Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Brandee Schwartz was connected by social media to Alex a pastor of a Christian church in Pakistan, half way around the world.
She began teaching bible lessons to kids of all ages.
Brandee says, “I fell in love with the whole crew, all of the kids. And as we are providing things for them, then they are understanding what God’s love is all about and so the families come and listen and you know, Alex will translate so they understand what we are teaching them.”
Via her cell phone, Brandee wakes up at 2 a.m. (because of the time difference) to bring a weekly bible lesson to the growing class of now over 60 and says the kids also take home what they learn and tell their parents about the messages.
She also tries to help with materials like paper and pencils and basic necessities like shoes and food. They are also trying to raising funds to help to expand the bible study and help the kids grow in faith.
Brandee says, “We have extra and they don’t and God wouldn’t have connected us to just leave them. There are stories like this all over, if we close ourselves off to the world, we risk what we are destined for and we miss the opportunity to give hope to somebody.”
Alex says the outreach has given them an opportunity they otherwise wouldn’t have had and growing generations of believers.
Alex adds, “I want to build their life, I want to build their future in Christ I want that every single day. Some kids are walking in the street and they don’t know about the love of Christ, and they don’t know what or how to say bible and they don’t know who is God or who is Jesus Christ but their friends and their parents then see the others kids have a good life in Christ after they join the bible class and they send them to our church.”
The ministry is oceans apart from Brandee’s home but not her heart, saying, “We are led to serve – to serve Him and I feel so whole now.”
