88 new South Dakota COVID-19 cases, 24 in west river

PIERRE, S.D. — On Sunday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 88 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the state’s total of confirmed cases to 8,955.

One more death was reported in Minnehaha County. That County has recorded 64 deaths while the number of deaths in the state is 135.

24 cases were reported west river – eight in Pennington County, four in Custer County, three each in Lawrence County and Meade County, two in Oglala Lakota County and one each in Bennett County, Butte County, Fall River County and Jackson County.

A total of 826 people have tested positive for the virus in Pennington County, while 685 have recovered; 112 cases are active in that County alone.

In the state, 911 cases are active, down two from Saturday.

89 recoveries were reported on Sunday, bringing the state’s total of recoveries to 7,909.

The number of people that are currently hospitalized from the virus is 35, down one. A total of 835 people have ever been hospitalized from the virus, an increase of three.
