$5K reward offered for information leading to arrest of Surfwood Drive homicide suspect

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the October stabbing on Surfwood Drive.

RCPD patchJust after 4 a.m. the morning of October 19, 24-year-old Leon Richards of Rapid City was found with stab wounds and transported to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police believe that there were witnesses in the homicide and that it was also captured on cell phone video.

“We believe through some of the other video and the evidence that we had, that people were taking probably video on their phone,” says Sergeant Craig Cassen, with People Crimes Investigations. “And we think that it is out there and that somebody probably still has it, and if they can come forward in this, like I say, it’s going to be no questions asked.”
