57th Anniversary of JFK’s assassination
RAPID CITY, S.D. — At the northwest corner of Main Street and Mount Rushmore Road in Rapid City stands the statue of John F. Kennedy along with his son, John-John.
It was 57 years ago today, 11-22-1963, when President Kennedy was gunned down by an assassin while riding in his motorcade in Dallas.
Texas governor John Connolly was also shot but survived.
Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in before returning to Washington.
