52nd annual Red Cloud Art Show coming to a close

PINE RIDGE RESERVATION, S.D. — The Heritage Center hosts the Red Cloud Art Show for ten weeks each summer, which ends Sunday, August 9.
It features artwork from Pine Ridge area artists as well as pieces from artists who live all over the U.S.
Typically, the Heritage Center at Pine Ridge houses the art pieces for the public to view, but this year the show is all virtual.
The pieces are judged by professionals, but viewers can still go online to make a People’s Choice Award which will be announced Monday, August 10.
The Heritage Center is focused on helping artists promote their work.
“We really like to see new names and new artwork that are in the art show, so that was really encouraging,” said Ashley Pourier, the Curator at the Heritage Center. “It’s a very large spectrum of skill level in here.”
All the artwork is for sale, with the proceeds used to support individual artists as well as the work of The Heritage Center. Pieces are still available for purchase at the gift shop website.
“I mean it’s really being a hub or a place for people to experience art and to learn about new artists, and maybe they are going to find an artist that they can’t not keep clicking on,” Pourier said.
The Heritage Center is closed to the public at this time.
