49 PHOTOS AND HIGHLIGHTS: Rapid City Rush win home opener against Kansas City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – After splitting two games against Utah last weekend, the Rapid City Rush opened the home portion of their schedule on Friday by hosting the Kansas City Mavericks.

With Rapid City trailing 2-1 after the first period, the Rush scored four goals in the second and held on to beat the Mavericks, 6-4.

Matt Marcinew led the Rush with two goals.

Max Coatta, Logan Nelson, Jon Martin and Rory Kerins each finished with one goal a piece.

Daniil Chechelev stopped 33 out of 37 shots for Rapid City.

The Rush improve to 2-1 on the season while the Mavericks fall to 1-1.

Rapid City and Kansas City will square off again on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Monument Ice Arena.

Prior to the game, the Rush will retire the jersey of former defenseman and the franchise leader in games played, Riley Weselowski.
