4 people busted following police pursuit near Oglala
OGLALA, S.D. — Four people are in custody after a routine traffic stop turned into a pursuit on Tuesday.
The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety (OSTDPS) says that during the evening hours of June 11, Highway Safety Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for a minor traffic infraction west of Oglala. The vehicle did not stop and instead fled north on BIA Highway 41, initiating a pursuit.
OSTDPS Troopers and officers were able to get the vehicle stopped near BIA 2 and the 41 Junction. They discovered drugs, money and a firearm inside the vehicle.
All of the vehicle’s occupants, including three males and one female, were arrested. Their charges include: driving while intoxicated, eluding, manufacturing with the intent to distribute, simple possession, resisting lawful arrest, and possession of a firearm.
Their names have not been released. A $5,000 bond was set on one of the subjects by the OST Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges are merely accusations and the arrested individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
