38-year-old Rapid City man identified in unattended death

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Rapid City Police Department responded to a call at 620 Latrobe Avenue for an unresponsive subject.

Police located the male lying in the parking lot and attempted emergency life-saving procedures. Upon arriving at the scene, a medical unit pronounced the individual deceased.

The man has been identified as 38-year-old Dustin Sharpbutte of Rapid City.

An autopsy was performed and found no signs of trauma. Foul play is not suspected in Sharpbutte’s death. Based on information gathered in the investigation, law enforcement believes that his death was a result of a medical incident, however, toxicology results are still pending. A final determination will be made after those results are received and reviewed.
