33rd Annual Black Hills Pow Wow

Rapid City, SD — The first winter storm of the season arrives just ahead of the 33rd annual Black Hills Pow Wow.

“Visit Rapid City” says hotels have seen a handful of cancellations, but most reservations are still in place. The Pow Wow officially kicks off with the grand entry Friday night 6:30 pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Pow Wow-related events start with a youth symposium Friday morning from 9:00am to 11:30am and continue all weekend.

According to the Civic Center, the Pow Wow has averaged abut six-thousand people each day the past several years. Julie Jensen of “Visit Rapid City” says an estimated two-thirds of those people are from out of town. She says “…we’re going to be just fine…be just fine”. Jensen says there’s an event planned for this evening to bless the arena for the Pow Wow.
