23 new west river COVID-19 cases, one death

PIERRE, S.D. — On Saturday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 106 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing its total to 9,477.

The department of health also reported two more coronavirus-related deaths, including one in Minnehaha County and one in Pennington County. The statewide death total stands at 146.

23 cases were reported west river – six each in Lawrence County and Pennington County, four in Meade County, three in Custer County, and one each in Lyman County, Oglala Lakota County, Todd County, and Ziebach County.

In Pennington County, a total of 881 people have tested positive for the virus while 732 have recovered; 117 cases are considered active in that county.

There are currently 1,024 active cases in the state, up 41 from Friday.

63 more people recovered on Friday, leaving the state’s total number of recoveries at 8,307.

There are 48 people who are currently hospitalized due to the coronavirus. A total of 871 people have ever been hospitalized.
