RAPID CITY, S.D. — Two people were seriously injured this afternoon when a pickup pulling a flatbed trailer lost control on Highway 34 north of Whitewood.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the pickup was traveling eastbound and the trailer attached to it was hauling a second pickup that actually had two people inside of it.

The trailer began wobbling and eventually the entire unit lost control, tipped and rolled as it went into a ditch.

Both occupants in the towed vehicle received serious, non life-threatening injuries from the crash.

The occupants in the power unit did not receive any injuries.

Troopers on scene determined that the crash was caused because the trailer was not properly secured to the pickup.
