STM sophomore Athena Franciliso wins the Flight 1 Singles title.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The State ‘A’ Girls Tennis Tournament wrapped up Tuesday in Rapid City.

The Pierre Governors captured their first ever state girls tennis title by winning four of the nine flights.

The Governors finished with 506.5 points followed by St. Thomas More with 397.

Rapid City Christian placed 5th with 258 points.

The STM Cavaliers won two individual championships.

STM sophomore Athena Franciliso won the Flight 1 singles championship match by defeating Sydney Tedrow from Pierre, 6-3, 6-0.

Franciliso also teamed up with Shriya Gangineni to win the Flight 2 doubles title over Allison Hill and Katie Palmer from Rapid City Christian.

However, Hill won the Flight 3 singles championship for Rapid City Christian.
