17th Annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride

STURGIS, S.D. – On Monday morning, the City of Sturgis and Jack Daniel’s partnered up to host the 17th annual Sturgis Mayor’s Ride.

People could sign up and pay to ride alongside the Mayor of Sturgis, Mark Carstensen, and the rally’s Grand Marshalls, Michael Ballard and Jesse James Dupree, through the beautiful Black Hills. The group stopped and took a photo at the Crazy Horse Memorial then wrapped up their ride at the State Game Lodge in Custer State Park.

“People keep coming back to the Sturgis Mayor’s Ride because they love the ride itself and what the Black Hills has to offer and its for a great cause,” said Mayor Carstensen.

Proceeds from this ride go back to the Emergency Services and first responders with the City of Sturgis.

Ballard added, “We’re excited I mean a lot of people in town. It’s a big buzz going on. There’s a lot of good bikes and we’re really looking forward to the Mayor’s Ride today. It’s kind of humbling. This thing has been going on for a long time and we’ve met a lot of celebrities on our ride and we’re just happy to be apart of it.”

Due to safety reasons, there is a cap on the number of riders that can participate in the Mayor’s Ride each year. Mayor Carstensen says that doesn’t stop people from coming back year after year.
