12 new COVID-19 cases in west river, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health reported 45 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Sunday, putting the state’s total at 7499.

There are currently 868 active cases in the state, down seven from Saturday. 52 new recoveries were reported Sunday. Over 6,500 people have recovered from COVID-19 in South Dakota.

12 new cases were reported west river – five in Pennington County, three in Oglala Lakota County, two in Dewey County and one each in Jackson County and Todd County.

A total of 635 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Pennington County while 474 have recovered, leaving the number of active cases in Pennington County at 140. 21 people have died from the virus in Pennington County.

The number of people that are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 is 53, that number is down 12. The number of people that have ever been hospitalized is 738.

No new deaths due to the virus were reported, leaving the state’s total at 109.
