1+1 Giveaway – Brooke Woods

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Every other week, NewsCenter1 and First Interstate Bank team up to award a deserving area educator a $500 grant to help them improve and innovate in the classroom.

Brooke Woods is a first year English/Language Arts teacher at North Middle School and our first “1+1 Giveaway” recipient of the New Year. “So one of my co-workers told me about it so I went on because I really wanted these guys to have good books to read. So that’s why I went on an applied for myself. And I’m very thankful so now I can go and get these guys books to read and hopefully get their input on what kind of books they want to read,” said Woods.

Kelsey York with First Interstate Bank was at the school to present Woods with the $500 check. “I think it’ll be awesome to have the opportunity for her students to take books out of her classroom instead of having to go over to the library. it’ll definitely encourage them to read more. I think it’s really easy to go home play video games or watch tv all night and it’s really important when you’re young to get into reading,” said York.
