1+1 Giveaway: Alyssa Bunkowske

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Another local educator has been chosen to receive $500 from us here at NewsCenter1 and First Interstate Bank in our “1+1 Giveaway.”

Wilson Elementary teacher, Alyssa Bunkowske, received the check Wednesday morning inside her kindergarten classroom. “I am in shock. I feel very blessed that someone feels that I deserve this already. So I’m very lucky,” said Bunkowske.

Her students appeared to be just as excited as she was about being chosen for the award. Mrs. Bunkowske says they’ll be even more excited once they hear how she plans to use the money.  “I am going to build up our literacy library. Books are pretty expensive and so I’ve been very fortunate to have some donations. But the kids want like piggy and elephant books and things like that so we can do studies around it,” she added.

First Interstate Bank partners with NewsCenter One during the school year to give deserving teachers and faculty members a check to cover expenses outside their budget and this giveaway was the first one of the new school year. “At First Interstate Bank one of our core values is commitment to community so what better way to celebrate a teacher who is one of our most important parts of the community. She has such big plans and we can’t wait to see the more teachers that we get to celebrate this year,” said Nicole Knuppe with First Interstate Bank.
