$10,000 reward offered for information in Martin firearms burglary

Multiple agencies, including The Martin Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and AFT are investigating the incident.

MARTIN, S.D. — A $10,000 reward is being offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for a burglary that occurred on Sept. 27 in Martin, SD.

Multiple agencies including The Martin Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and ATF are investigating the incident that occurred just after 3:00 a.m. that morning at LaCroix’s True Value, located at 302 Main Street. The suspects are believed to have stolen 10 firearms.

“Firearms theft is a very serious crime,” said Special Agent in Charge Terry Henderson, of the St. Paul Field Division. “Once firearms are stolen, they are often used in violent crimes soon after. We highly encourage anyone with information to come forward to prevent these firearms from being used in a crime of violence in our communities.”

Both the ATF and NSSF are offering $5,000 and the information that is given must lead to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the crime as well as the aid in recovering the stolen firearms.

The increased amount of the award is due to the NSFF matching an ATF reward through a national cooperative initiative that focuses on cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.

Anyone with information about the person(s) involved should contact the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS or (1-888-283-8477) or the Winner Dispatch at (605)-842 – 1014.
