100 years of Zonta and 100 years of empowering women
RAPID CITY, S.D. —
It has only been 100 years since American women had the right to vote. In 1919 congress ratified the 19th Amendment, making it illegal to deny someone the right to vote based on their sex. And in 1965 the Voting Rights Act was passed securing the right to vote for all women regardless of race.
Now in 2019 Zonta International is celebrating its 100th birthday as an organization, Zonta’s main goal is to work towards a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. Zonta international believes that they can make the world a better place by empowering women and working together towards gender equality.
