K9 tracks down Rapid City man in stolen truck case

RAPID CITY, S.D. - A K9 tracked a man down who police say was driving a stolen truck through west Rapid City.

The man was caught after police spotted a stolen Toyota pickup on Canyon Lake Road Wednesday afternoon.

An officer tailed the suspect, who parked in a driveway on Hillsview Drive. The man got out and ran, but witnesses pointed police in the right direction.

One officer spotted the man running through a backyard on Juniper Street, but it was a K9 who tracked the suspect down. The dog found him in a yard on Dale Drive.

Police handcuffed the man, finding the truck keys in his pocket. They also found marijuana in the truck.

The suspect, 44-year-old Cory Myers, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction, and possession of marijuana.
