Fatal Sturgis Road crash marks 4th Rally-related death


BLACK HAWK, S.D. - A 39-year-old man died Wednesday evening after crashing his motorcycle.

The crash happened at 6:24 p.m. as the man drove west on Sturgis Road. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the man lost control on a curve near the Kimberly Drive intersection, 1 mile west of Black Hawk.

The motorcycle went into the ditch, down an embankment and through a fence. 

The driver was pronounced dead at the crash site. He was not wearing a helmet.

This is the fourth fatality related to the 78th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The third fatality was a day earlier, also on Sturgis Road.
