Legion Baseball: Post 22 blows out Spearfish, Post 320 sweeps Sheridan

Posted: Updated:

As we approach the halfway point of the regular season, Post 22 has been on fire as of late.

Since May 22, the Hardhats have won 13 out of their last 14 games and are now sitting at 22-4 on the season.

Post 22 head coach Kelvin Torve credits the offense for much of his team's success. Over the last three weeks, the Hardhats are averaging 12.3 runs per game while giving up only 3.5 runs per contest.

This weekend, Post 22 will host the Veteran's Classic featuring six teams from four states.

"We're starting to hit the ball well," Post 22 head coach Kelvin Torve said. "We're playing good defense. Now we're going to be heading into the meat of our schedule. We've got the Veteran's Tournament this weekend. We've got the Firecracker coming up. We've got the Omaha Tournament coming up. We've got the Gopher Classic. So now is when we start meeting the really good teams and the really short turnarounds where you play four days in a row. Five days in a row. It's going to be fun. But it's also going to be quite challenging."

Meanwhile, Post 22 defeated Spearfish on Tuesday night, 23-2.

The Hardhat got their offense going in the first inning, as Cooper Bowman hit a solo home run to left field.

In fact, Bowman went 4-for-4 at the plate and finished with 7 RBIs.

The Post 320 Stars extended their winning streak to eight after sweeping the Sheridan Troopers on Tuesday night.

The Stars defeated Sheridan by scores of 8-4 and 8-6.
