Driver charged after crashing into pole, seriously injuring passenger


RAPID CITY, S.D. - One person was seriously injured when a drunk driver crashed into a light pole, police say.

The crash happened early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Fifth Street and Cathedral Drive. Police arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the car.

Police helped both the passenger and the unconscious driver out of the car. The passenger was hospitalized for serious, life-threatening injuries.

When the driver regained consciousness, police began a DUI investigation.

The driver, Brittany Twobulls, 25, of Rapid City is charged with: vehicular battery, driving under the influence (3rd), open container in a vehicle, and careless driving.
