Fake $100 bills circulating through Rapid City

Fake money is circulating throughout Rapid City. Police say fake $100 bills have passed through several businesses.

The Rapid City Police Department has recovered the fake bills from at least five different instances.

Police say the money is created for movie productions. The bills can be identified by the word "REPLICA" printed on them and/or the phrase, “for motion picture use only.”

Local businesses should protect themselves by visually inspecting all money and using a counterfeit money detection pen.

Anyone who may have received this fake money is encouraged to call police at 605-394-4131.
